So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. - Isaiah 55:11 ESV
Due to the current COVID circumstances in our community we feel that it is wise to Postpone our “Bible Reading Marathon”. It is still in our hearts to honor the Lord in this way at some point in the new year. As of now, we are making tentative plans for an early Spring/Lent season to do this. At this point, however, we simply will not be able to have the participation needed to do the Marathon effectively.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do I sign up to read?
Go online to arabfbc.org, scroll down to the Bible Reading Marathon logo and click on it. Scroll down the Sign up Here logo and click on it. Scroll to a time or times you’d like and click the Sign Up button to the right. Follow the directions to sign up via Facebook, Google or your email, complete the Participant’s Information and click Save and Done. You will be taken back to the original listing that now shows you assigned a time. At the top of the list you will click Save again. This confirms your time slot and you are signed up!
How long will I be asked to read?
Each participant is asked to read for 15 minutes. But you may read more. You can select back-to-back times, sign up as a group(s), or sign up for an additional time slot during the reading marathon.
How do I know which section of the Bible I will read?
You will begin where the last reader stopped. Because everyone reads at differing speeds it’s impossible to predict where that will happen. You should arrive a little early and listen to the readers ahead of you. That will give you a good idea of which section of the Bible you will be reading.
What if I forget the reading time I selected?
The app is going to send you a reminder email immediately. Save it. Additionally, the app will send you another reminder 24 hours before your selected time.
What about the tough words and names?
Do the best you can. It’s true, there are some tough words and names in the Bible. If you arrive early you will get an idea of the approximate section you will be reading, so you can practice a bit. Your obedience in reading His Word will please the Lord.
May we read as a couple/family/group?
Certainly! In fact, it is encouraged. What better testimony can you all give during the event but that you are all engaging His Word?
May I use my own Bible?
Yes. It will probably be easier for you to read from your Bible’s familiar text. And during the current health situation it is recommended. However, a large print Bible will be at the podium for common use.
May I read the bible in my native language?
Yes. It is encouraged! God’s Word is for all people!
Where do I park?
Main parking is to the back of the building along HWY 69. From there it will be an easy walk around the south side of the church to the Bible Reading Marathon staging area.
When should I arrive?
At least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled time. This will account for different timepieces and give you time to learn the approximate area of scripture from which you will be reading.
How can I participate if I’m too anxious to read aloud?
Pray! Pray for those who are reading. Pray that the Word will fall on listening ears. Pray that hearts will be receptive. Pray for the success of the Bible Reading Marathon.
What about COVID concerns?
We will follow masking (except while reading) and social distance protocols. Surfaces will be regularly sanitized and additional hand sanitizer will be provided. Please be aware of your personal health situation and potential compromising factors. Make decisions accordingly and with caution.
What about the weather?
Be aware that we intend to proceed regardless of weather. We have heat and shelter (and the building) which will be utilized as need dictates.
